To stay or go. That is the decision facing more and more people aged in their sixties and beyond.

The decision to stay in your own home or move into an aged care or residential facility can be a difficult one.

Fortunately, there are a growing number of services available for people who prefer the comfort and convenience of their own home.

Government funded programs like Home Assist Secure, which is delivered in the Toowoomba region by not-for-profit organisation YellowBridge QLD, aims to help people live at home for as long as possible.

The program provides financial assistance to people who receive a government age or disability pension to make their homes safe and secure.

YellowBridge QLD also provides lawn maintenance and home modifications through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme and Queensland Community Care Services. They are also planning to deliver Home Care Packages in the near future.

“We know how important it is for our clients to feel safe and comfortable at home,” said YellowBridge QLD Home Services General Manager Maria Sloane.

“Our services help our clients to live as they wish and stay in their own home for as long as they want to.”
